Bomb Disposal Robot Dismantles Holiday Cards for Labour MPs

Bomb disposal robot destroys Labour MPs' Christmas cards

A bomb disposal robot operated by the Metropolitan Police recently destroyed a collection of Christmas cards meant for Labour MPs, which had sparked a lockdown in the vicinity of Parliament.

At approximately 07:30 GMT on Thursday, law enforcement officials sealed off roads around Parliament Square to facilitate the robot’s examination of a suspicious package discovered in Victoria Tower Gardens.

After a thorough investigation, authorities determined that the item posed no threat, leading to the reopening of the area just an hour later.

Debris left behind included fragments of festive cards adorned with children’s drawings, intended for various Labour MPs and their constituency offices, with some cards displaying the addresses of the MPs.

Reports indicate that several of the cards were found in a box labeled with the name of Housing Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh.

Additionally, remnants of cards addressed to Housing Committee Chair Florence Eshalomi were also present at the scene.

Both MPs have been contacted for their responses regarding the incident.

Officials from the police department typically refrain from commenting on items that are later declared safe.

It is common for unattended packages to cause road closures in the heavily monitored and congested areas around Parliament.

The spokesperson for the Prime Minister stated he had no knowledge of the event.

As of now, Santa Claus has also not provided any remarks on the situation.
