Victims Identified

One of the victims has been identified as Matilda, a 10-year-old girl whose family shared her name with the press. Irina Goodhew, who organized a fundraiser for Matilda’s mother and was her former teacher, expressed her sorrow, stating, “She was a bright, joyful, and spirited child who illuminated the lives of those around her.”

The Harmony Russian School in Sydney confirmed that Matilda was a student there, expressing their profound grief on social media. “We are heartbroken to announce that a former student has passed away due to injuries from a gunshot. Our condolences and thoughts are with her family, friends, and all affected by this tragic incident. Her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts,” the school posted.

Matilda’s aunt spoke to a news outlet, revealing that Matilda’s sister, who was present during the shooting, is struggling to cope with the heartbreaking loss. “They were inseparable, like twins,” she recounted.
