The United Kingdom is set to enforce new visa limitations on individuals arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) due to the DRC government’s failure to accept measures that would facilitate the repatriation of illegal migrants and foreign offenders.

Officials have indicated that the DRC has not met the necessary criteria established following the introduction of stricter asylum regulations in November.

As a result, expedited visa processing will no longer be available for nationals from the DRC, and the Home Office confirmed that high-profile visitors and politicians will no longer receive special consideration when entering the UK.

Cooperation from Neighboring Countries

In contrast, the Home Office announced that both Angola and Namibia have pledged to enhance their efforts in accepting the return of their citizens, having faced threats of sanctions similar to those directed at the DRC.

A government spokesperson noted that Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is prepared to impose visa penalties on any other nations that refuse to accept their citizens back.
