Video Captures Hawaii Volcano Eruption Overwhelming Camera

Watch: Moment Hawaii volcano eruption engulfs camera

A volcanic eruption in Hawaii dramatically unleashed lava that surged toward a distant camera set up to document the event, ultimately enveloping it in ash and causing it to lose connectivity.

Visuals provided by the geological agency illustrate the camera freezing and malfunctioning before its transmission ceases entirely in the aftermath of the explosive eruption.

On Saturday, observers noted lava fountains reaching heights of approximately 30 meters (100 feet) from Kilauea, located within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Recognized as one of the planet’s most active volcanoes, Kilauea has been in a state of intermittent eruption since December of the previous year.
