Waitrose Issues Recall for Bottled Water Due to Potential Glass Contamination

Bottled water from Waitrose recalled over risk it contains glass

Waitrose has initiated a recall of its bottled water products following concerns that they may contain glass shards. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has urged customers to return the affected items to the store.

The recall affects both the 750ml No1 Royal Deeside Mineral Water and its sparkling counterpart, due to the potential presence of glass fragments that could pose a risk of injury, rendering the water unsafe for consumption.

In a statement, Waitrose expressed its regret over the situation and confirmed that the recall is a precautionary measure affecting select bottles. Customers have been advised to refrain from consuming these products and are encouraged to return them for a full refund.

If you have purchased any of the products mentioned, do not consume them,

the FSA emphasized in its notification. The supermarket chain is also taking steps to inform shoppers by placing notices throughout its stores.

Deeside water is sourced from natural springs located within the Cairngorms national park in Scotland. The company produces specific batches for Waitrose, which are now included in the recall. Each bottle is priced at approximately £1.60.

Details regarding the total number of impacted bottles and the exact percentage affected remain unclear. The batch codes for the recalled mineral water include: NOV 2027 28, DEC 2027 01, DEC 2027 02, DEC 2027 10, DEC 2027 11, and DEC 2027 16, with best before dates spanning November and December 2027.

Additionally, the batch codes for the sparkling water subject to recall are: DEC 2027 01, DEC 2027 03, DEC 2027 12, DEC 2027 15, and DEC 2027 25, all with a best before date of December 2027.

The FSA recommends that individuals reach out to Waitrose Customer Care at 0800 188 884, selecting option 4 for assistance.
